the Ballroom floor was sanded back to reveal the original Imported red cedar floor.
The condidtion of the floor was remarkable, considering its age and neglect over the decades.
Step 1/ Initial Sanding of floor
Step 2/ Vaccum up all dust and then wash all floors and surrounding surfaces
Step 3/ 1st coat of tung oil. This was rapidly absorbed into the 150 year old timbers.
Step 4/ considering the degree of saturation in the 1st coat, the 2nd coat of tung oil was applied after a 24 hour dring time
Step 5/ hand sanding each board after 24 hour drying time from previous coat
Step 6/ vacuum and wash all surfaces free of dust
Step 7/ 3rd Coat of Tung Oil
Step 8/ Hand buff with steel wool each floorboard
Step 9/ Vaccuum and wash all surfaces free of Dust
Step 10/ apply final coat of Tung Oil
Step 11/ allow 4 days of drying/curing before walking on in shoes or
the replacment of furniture.
